Move-out Checklist

Here are some general guidelines for what needs to be completed at move out. Security deposit refunds are processed within 30 days of occupants surrendering the property and providing forwarding address as per Texas Property Code.


Refund checks are made payable to all tenants on the lease. This list is not meant to take place of, nor is it a complete list of the requirements in your lease. Please read your lease for all obligations.



□ All floors swept, mopped, dried

□ All walls and ceilings dusted down, and all dirt, smudges, and grease washed off

□ Wash down all baseboards, woodwork, and windowsills

□ Clean and wash all light fixtures

□ Thoroughly clean all bathroom fixtures – toilet (s), bathtub (s), showers, sinks, and cabinets (inside & out)

□ Clean & wash kitchen, removing all dirt and grease including kitchen sink and fixtures

□ Clean underneath, behind, and between the stove and refrigerator area. Wash down outside of stove and refrigerator.

□ Clean the insides of the stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher with appropriate cleansers

□ Clean and wash down the insides and outsides of all cabinets. Use degreaser if necessary

□ Clean closets and wipe down shelves and rods

□ Clean and wash all windows, screens, and blinds, and return them to their proper place

□ Remove all items from deck, balcony, closet, attic, crawlspace, basement, yard, shed, etc □ Lawn, driveway, garage, and outbuildings to be free of all trash, rubbish, and personal property (including vehicles, lawn equipment, etc.)

□ Remove any appliances not provided by the landlord unless authorized by D&D

□ Remove any pet waste from the yard and property

□ All trash and garbage to be removed from the property. Do not pile up garbage at the curb. □ Have carpets professionally cleaned and provide a receipt to D&D



□ Provide forwarding address to D&D and United States Postal Service

□ Mow and edge yard, including halfway into the alley

□ Keep all utilities on 3 days after moving out to allow for utilities to be switched over

□ Professionally patch, sand, and texture any holes larger than a small nail hole

□ All keys and garage door openers are to be returned before your move-out inspection

□ Light bulbs – all light fixtures are to have working light bulbs in all bulb sockets

□ Air filter must be replaced

□ Smoke alarms must be in working order with a good battery

□ Exterminate for any pests
